Wilfred Jerome "W.J." Jung, 94, of St. Joseph, passed away, January 13, 2025.  Wilfred was born June 22, 1930, in Cosby, MO, to Harold G. and Ada M. (Heller) Jung.

He was a graduate of Savannah High School.  He served in the Air Force Police during the Korean Conflict.  Prior to retirement he worked as a fabrication and cab specialist for Kenworth Truck Company.

Wilfred was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.  He married Joanna K. Hamera on September 28, 1963 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in St. Joseph, and she survives.  Also surviving are children Anne Jung-Mathews (Phil), Angie Chapman (David), Aaron Jung; grandchildren Elena Davis (Taylor), Nicholas Kulig, Michael Kulig, Samuel Chapman (Grace), Lewis Chapman, Anne Chapman; great-grandchildren, Winona Davis, Evan Davis, Cole Davis, Theodore Chapman, Francesca Chapman; many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers Marvin Jung and Byron Jung.

W.J. enjoyed building and woodworking projects.  He also loved attending auctions and playing minor pranks on his family members.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.  The Rosary will be recited Friday evening, January 17, 2025, 5:30 pm,at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel; where the visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
