Teresa Lynn (Walker) Mitchell, 62, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Mosaic Life Care after a long battle with kidney failure.

Teresa was born on September 1, 1963 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to James and Tabitha (Chapman) Walker, Sr. She was a 1981 graduate of Lafayette High School.

Teresa worked as a teller and manager of Quik Cash in St. Joseph, Missouri for over 15 years and had previously worked at the downtown Holiday Inn in addition to other jobs.

Teresa enjoyed gardening, drawing and sketching and was an avid animal lover. She enjoyed cheering on the Chiefs and looked forward to family BBQ's, going on long drives, fireworks and especially looked forward to time with her granddaughter, Althea.

Teresa is survived by her two sons, Jeremy Cross and Jacob Cross; granddaughter, Althea; father, James K. Walker, Sr.; three siblings, Tammy R. Beck (Gary), Jimmy "J.J." Walker, and Charity Brennan (Pat K.); numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins.

Teresa was preceded in death by her mother, Tabitha (Chapman) Walker, and her maternal and paternal grandparents and great-grandparents.

Teresa has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where a register book will be available to sign during normal business hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Teresa's family would like to extend their gratitude to DaVita Kidney Care for their exceptional care for Teresa during her long kidney battle.

The family has requested memorial donations to the National Kidney Foundation.
