Steven C. Gillett, 72, of St. Joseph, passed away, May 28, 2024.

Steven was born April 13, 1952, in St. Joseph, to Clifford "CW" and Elsie L. (Slifer) Gillett.

He was a graduate of Lafayette High School.  He worked for BNSF Railway as a Conductor from 1971 till his retirement in 2013.  He was a member of United Transportation Union Local #259, and held various offices within the Union.

He loved old cars and visits to the garage to "Hang out" with the guys.

Steven married Susan Ashford on December 31, 1990 in St. Joseph, and she survives him of the home.

Also surviving are son; Steve (Jessica) Gillett; daughters; Angie Townsend (Mark), Sara (Jimmie) Ransdell,  Cortney Turner; grandchildren; Zachary Gillett, Jordan (Wes) Burt, Adrienne (Jonathan) Womack, Isabelle and Lillian Townsend, Caleb , Aubrey, and Hayes Ransdell, Micah and  Ian Turner; sisters; Cheryl Portman (Rodney Grayson) Pam (Darrell) Hackathorn, and Carol Ferguson.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Toby Keith Foundation -  OK Kids Corral for kids with cancer.

Steven's  family  would like to extend our sincere  gratitude to  Megan and Kristy of Mosaic Life Care Hospice for the love and care shown to Steven and to our family.
