It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ryan Scott Zaroor announces his unexpected passing on August 12, 2026, at the age of 39.
Born on October 18, 1986, Ryan was a bright light who made a lasting impact on so many people throughout his life. He graduated from North Kansas City High School after attending St. Pius High School and later briefly attended Penn Valley Community College.
Ryan had a passion for automobiles and worked in various roles in the automotive and restaurant industries. He also operated his own lawn care business and spent time working alongside his father in the construction business.
Ryan’s sudden departure leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. He lived vibrantly and loved his family and friends fiercely. Ryan will be remembered for his infectious smile, his beautiful laugh, and, above all, his kind and generous heart. He had a special compassion for those experiencing homelessness and was always willing to help others.
Ryan had many passions and interests throughout his life. He loved skateboarding, art, sports cars, and motorcycles. His favorite holidays were Halloween and the Fourth of July, occasions that reflected his fun-loving spirit and enthusiasm for life.
Ryan also had a deep love for his parish, St. James Catholic Church, where he was involved in helping with the youth group and served as an usher during Mass. As a Boy Scout, Ryan achieved the rank of Life Scout and earned the Catholic religious emblem Ad Altare Dei. Some of his fondest memories were spending summers at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation.
Ryan is survived by his loving parents, Christopher and Deborah (Scott) Zaroor; his brothers, Matthew and Caleb Zaroor; his grandmother, Carol Scott; and countless extended family members and close friends who will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Scott, and his grandparents, Joseph Zaroor and Mary Jane Zaroor.
A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. James Catholic Church, 3909 Harrison Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64110. Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 3:00 p.m. A private burial to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Ryan’s honor to the Heartland Center for Behavioral Change in Kansas City, Missouri, or to St. James Catholic Church.
Ryan’s life touched more people than he may ever have known. His smile, laughter, kindness, and love for those around him will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
