Russell Owen Root,71, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away surrounded by the love of his family.

Russell was born on July 12, 1954, to Donald and Mary Root. He was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph and a proud graduate of Lafayette High School. On October 1, 1977, he married Diana Miller in St. Joseph, Missouri. Together they built a life centered on family and lasting memories.

Russell enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and taking pride in a well-kept yard. He also enjoyed trips to the casino with Diana, creating many special memories.

Russell is survived by his wife, Diana Root; daughters, Meagan Wells (Eric) and Amanda Beasley (Daniel); grandsons, Owen and Wyatt Beasley; brother, Eric Root (Kristin); nephew, Kyle; niece, Erica ; mother-in-law, Frances Miller; and brother-in-law, Doug Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary Root; sister, Donna Winans; husband, Mike, and brother, Larry Root.

Russell has been cremated under the care and direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel. Visitation will be held at Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel on Thursday, June 25th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later time.
