Jeanie Abbett, 80, of Elwood, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 with her family by her side.

Jeanie was born on November 22nd, 1945 to Lavina (Redmond) and Everett Israel. The family resided in rural Doniphan County, Kansas where they operated their family farm. Jeanie attended a local country school.

Jeanie worked as a housekeeper for the Pattee House Museum, and cleaned for local businesses for many decades, until her health took a recent turn. When she was not working, Jeanie enjoyed to spend time with her family and grandchildren. Jeanie loved the simplicity of a simple life, with Elvis Presley and Dwight Yoakam music playing in the background.

Preceding Jeanie in death were her parents Lavina (Redmond) Israel and Everett Israel, sisters; Marge Dalsing and Donna Israel.

Survivors of Jeanie are, her daughter Lori Beaman (Randy), 3 Grandchildren; Michael Dilley, Zachary Harris, and Dylan Harris (Lindsey), and 3 Great-Grandchildren; Harper, Emma, and Ivy. Additional survivors include: sister, Joan Arnold, and dear friend, Charlotte Sowards.

Jeanie has been cremated under the care and direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel of St. Joseph, Missouri.

A celebration of life will be held at the Elwood Community Center at  803 Massachusetts Street, Elwood, KS 66024 on Saturday, May 30th, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 PM.
