Mary Lou Young, 99, Savannah, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026.

Mary Lou was born on June 10, 1927 in Illinois and was raised in Rock Port, Missouri by Albert and Bessie Ottmann.

Mary Lou was united in marriage to Barnett Young on May 25, 1946, and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary, until his passing in April, 1997. Mary Lou was a devoted wife and a loving mother to their two daughters.

Mary Lou worked as a sales representative for Avon for over sixty years and was fondly known as "The Avon Lady of Savannah, Missouri" and won numerous sales awards.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Savannah, Missouri and was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards with her friends and loved to dance and looked forward to attending meals and events at the Andrew County Senior Center.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Lou was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rick Montemayor and two brothers, Harold and Bob Baker

Mary Lou is survived by her two daughters, Lou Ella Montemayor, St. Joseph, MO and Vickie Hodgin (Randy), Parker, CO; four grandchildren, Courtney Schweder, Brook Montemayor, Cormac Hodgin and Addison Hodgin; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Young has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel. A Graveside Service and Inurnment will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, Missouri.

The family has requested memorial donations to the Andrew County Senior Center.
