Obituary

Linda Susan Wilt peacefully passed away on August 17, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by family.

She was born on April 6, 1941, to Leon and Margaret Frantz of Grand Junction, Iowa. Her siblings are Ruth Schoenfeld, Ron Frantz and Sharon Stoline. They were raised on a family farm in Grand Junction.

Linda married Ben (Benny) Wilt on July 29,1961 in Grand Junction, Iowa. They spent their early married years in Ft Dodge, Iowa, and eventually moved to St. Joseph and Savannah, Missouri where they resided and raised their family. Linda cared deeply for her husband, family, home, friends and community. She was often seen volunteering for many different organizations: Andrew County Ministries, The Girl Scouts, St. Rose of Lima Church and After Prom Extravaganza. If there was a need of time, talent or resources, she was always happy to participate. Linda lived her life loving, serving and contributing to others.

Linda and Ben have five children: Randy (Amy) Wilt, Susie (Charlie) Lyle, Sara Bruckshaw, Mary Kennedy, Martha (Jeff) Willard. Grandma Linda thoroughly loved her nine grandchildren and their spouses: Chaz (Katie) Lyle, Aaryn (Michael) Brown, Tyler (Anna) Wilt, Zane (Koie) Wilt, Austin Bruckshaw, Corbin Bruckshaw, Olivia (Devin) Barnhart, Eden Willard and Charlie Willard. Her love of family and legacy extends to her great grandchildren: Jonesy, Emilia, Junah, Bennett, Archie, Riggs, Ella and Cooper. Family was of utmost importance to Linda and was reflected in how she lived her daily life.

One of Linda’s favorite quotes was, “this too shall pass.” Her belief was that there are better days ahead and always hope for a bright future. She is now living that hope through eternal life.

Our family would like to sincerely thank Oak Pointe of Maryville: Kim Treese, Hanna Danner, Marie Coffelt and the entire staff, for the love, compassion, dignity and kindness extended to Linda during her time there. We’d also like to thank the special team of caregivers at AseraCare Hospice: Sheelah Lyle, Courtney Mehus, and their staff. Linda’s days were filled with kindness and compassion thanks to these exceptional teams of professionals.

The days are long and the years are short, but the impact one person can have on family, friends and community through legacy, lives on forever. Linda will always be remembered for her incredible legacy built day by day.
