Obituary for Lewis Glaub

With a mix of heartfelt sorrow and deep gratitude for his life, the family of Lewis Gene Glaub, would like to announce his peaceful passing at his home on January 8th, 2025, at age 76. It was on this day that Louie was joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Terry. Louie was born on August 27, 1948 to Florence (Pearson) Keefer in Kansas City where he would spend the first 17 years of his life. It was in this time that Louie accepted Jesus Christ, as his Lord and Savior. Lou would speak of the day he came home and exclaimed, "I've been saved! I've been saved!" His family is so grateful for Christ's sacrifice and promise that, though he is no longer with us, Louie now rests in eternal peace and joy in the presence of God. The summer before his junior year of high school, Lewis began working on a dairy farm in De Kalb, MO. It was there at the home of Henry and Alice McDevitt, that he would find love and stability. Even in his elderly years, Lewis would often say he owed everything to Henry McDevitt. Lewis never did return to Kansas City after the summer of 1964 and graduated from De Kalb High School in 1966. It was here that he would meet his high school sweetheart, Terry (Bush), and later marry her on June 8th, of 1968. The two would spend the next 52 years creating memories and forming friendships that would have a lasting impact on so many lives. They were blessed with a son, Skyler, who was the greatest source of pride and joy in their lives. Lewis was his son's best friend and would remain until his passing.

The tradition of Minnesota fishing began with the late Bob Teschner in 1976 at Whaley's Resort. These two would spend many hours fishing together over the years. It wasn't until June of 1978 that the lifelong friendship with Gordy and Nadine Odor from Iowa would form. This bond would forever form a multi-generational love between two families from two states. Louie would often say, "Iowa is family." Throughout his life, Lou had many accomplishments. These would include multiple college degrees and a 40-year employment with Seitz/Sara Lee where he became a mentor to many. As a founding member of the De Kalb Fire Department, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to serving his community. Louie was a master walleye angler, an avid huntsman, a trophy-winning bowler, and possessed the remarkable talent for "McGyvering" just about anything and everything. After his wife's passing in early 2021, Lewis's three grandchildren became his life. His oldest grandson would inherit his name and his second would inherit his mechanical aptitude. Genetics. Are. Wild. His youngest grandchild, a girl, would spend 4 beautiful years loving her grandpa. Lewis was preceded in death by his twin sister, Patricia Jean who passed on the day she was born. Oh, what joy he must be feeling having finally gotten to meet his twin! He is also proceeded in death by siblings Paul Keefer, Mark Keefer, Dennis Keefer, Robert Keefer, Jim Smith, Bill Smith, and Lynn Mador, as well as his mother, Florence. He is survived by siblings, Mike Keefer, Janice Chapman, and Cheryle Keefer, as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law, Tilford (Barb), Twyla, Trudy (David), and Trent (Pam). He is survived by his Iowa family, his son, Skyler, his goddaughter, Missy Odor, his forever daughter-in-law Tabby, and his grandchildren, Lewis, Jacky Boy, and Lyla Scout. Lewis was a beloved uncle to many and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
