Obituary

Leona Lee (Morris) Becerra, 81, passed away peacefully with family by her side, Wednesday June 21, 2023.

Leona was born November 20, 1941, in Osborn, MO Clinton County to Beulah Morris (Barwald) and George G Morris.

Leona attended grade school at Frazier (a one room #6 schoolhouse), Gower and Faucett High School graduating in 1959.

As a teenager she babysat Raymond and Sharon Jansen at the home of the mother, Gertrude, living there for the summer months.

After high school she moved from Wallace, MO to St Joseph, MO into her first apartment at 505½ South 9th Street. Her landlady and friend were Mrs. Eveloff.

Leona was a hard worker, working right out of high school at Sun Garment Sewing Factory and Nellie Don's Sewing Factory as well as Noma Lights. Leona was an excellent seamstress sewing her children's and families' clothes

In later years she married Raymond M. Becerra on December 30, 1965, at the courthouse in Troy, KS.

She worked for Meade Products for over 40 years, member of the Local Paper Union. Leona was like Snow White in that she loved all wild animals. She fed baby ground hogs in her yard as well as rabbits. She loved her dog Tenderfoot, her pet chicken, Elvis and her parrot, Squawky.

She enjoyed country music, especially Conway Twitty, also crafting, cooking, and sitting on the porch taking in the beauty of God's creation. Her favorite color was red, and Leona loved turquoise western jewelry, snowmen, hearts, the baby swans at the Memorial Park and Indian Dreamcatchers.

Leona was baptized with good friend, Ellen John, a co-worker at Meade's at Word of Life Church.

Leona was a Christian who loved her heavenly Father and was a dedicated mother to her children.

Her best friend in High School was Katherine (Wood) Rhoades. Leona always enjoyed getting cards and pictures of her nieces and nephews' families.

One of her family's best memories were homemade enchiladas she made on Christmas Eve. They were the best enchiladas ever. Leona is survived by daughter, Janice (Dale) Eaton and son, Gary (Ann) Becerra.

Also, her grandchildren Jeremy Eaton, Melissa (Casey) Shute, Timothy Eaton and Brodi Ray Becerra.
