Kent Marshall
Teschner
Nov 15, 1957 — Nov 26, 2023
St. Joseph
Kent Marshall Teschner, 66, passed away peacefully November 26, 2023, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving and broken hearted family.
He was born November 15, 1957, to Clyde and Rufena (Judy) Teschner in St. Joseph, Missouri. On his final birthday celebration, God blessed him with a day of beautiful weather and the presence of his grandchildren around him. It was a day we will hold dear and remember always.
Kent graduated from Benton High School in 1976, where he excelled in wrestling, football, and track. During his early years, he worked the bean fields each summer and after graduation, learned the art of welding at Custom Ornamental Iron, and later operating a tractor-trailer for Mid Cities, Inc. Afterwards, he dedicated over 35 years of service to Altec Industries as a welder.
On September 6, 1980, he married Nancy Miljavac, and together they built their home and welcomed three much loved children. He joined the Catholic church in 1994, where he became a member of the Knights of Columbus and a dedicated usher.
Kent enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad, his brother Russ and friends. After marriage, he continued his love of sports, playing softball and bowling with his five brother-in-laws and cousins. Later, he looked forward to watching the Chiefs play with his son Zack each week and attending his grandchildren's sporting events whenever possible.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, daughters Jessica (Thuan) Nguyen of Prairie Village, Kansas, Kari (Kyle) Heim of St. Joseph, Missouri, and son Zachary (Carissa) Teschner of St. Joseph Missouri; grandchildren Harrison, Alexander, Sophia Nguyen; Charli, Micki and Whit Heim; Isaiah and Elijah Teschner. His brother Russell (Gail) Teschner, sisters Judy (Warren) Denney and Jayne (Tim) Ellis, and several nieces and nephews.
