Obituary

Judy Ann DeVore, age 83, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord, with her daughter by her side. Judy was born on February 11, 1941, to Donald C. Wray and Mary (Kennedy) Wray in St. Joseph, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Glen E. DeVore. Surviving is their daughter, Cindy Bivens (Nathan) and granddaughter, Allison Bivens, of Columbia, MO.

Judy was a 1959 graduate of Central High School and then worked as a secretary at  Goetz/Pearl Brewery, where she met Glen, and later, became a stay-at-home mom, Sunday school teacher, and PTA room mom. Later in life, Judy was assistant manager to the Miller Recycling Corporation. She was a long-time member of Brookdale Church, and later, Word of Life church and Fredrick Blvd Baptist.

Judy loved hearing, studying, and teaching God's Word, as well as greeting at church. Judy loved spending with her family, taking walks with her dog Brownie Bear, taking nature photos, birdwatching, and painting. Her friends and family also remember her for her colorful spiked hair, delicious pies, excellent sewing skills, and a great sense of humor. But riding all the rollercoasters at Worlds of Fun was her favorite pastime, even into her seventies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Joseph Friends of the Animal Shelter or Frederick Blvd Baptist Church. A private graveside service will take place with her immediately family at Bethel Cemetery in Cosby, MO, at her request.
