Judith A. Marks (Judy), age 90 yrs, passed away on July 9, 2026. She was born November 16, 1935, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Merle and Ferne Brubaker.

Judy graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1953. She was an avid figure skater and a proud member of the Sioux Falls Figure Skating Club, where she appeared in the annual Winter Ice Shows. One winter, she worked for the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department teaching and coaching beginner skaters—a job she often said was her favorite ever.

On October 17, 1956, Judy married Robert Marks and moved to Sioux City, Iowa. Creative and talented, Judy designed and made much of her own wardrobe, crafted decor, and found great joy in decorating her homes.

Judy and her family later moved to Wilson, North Carolina, where they lived for five years before relocating to St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1977 following another transfer for Robert’s career. Robert passed away in 1993. Judy then moved to Naples, Florida, in 1995 and returned to St. Joseph in 2001.

She is survived by her eldest son, Dr. Merle Marks and his wife Dr. Becky Marks, and their children Samuel and Bonnie. She was preceded in death by her son Martin Marks (2021), who is survived by his wife Michele, their children Mackenzie (husband Andrew) and Zachary (wife Hannah), and her great-grandson River. She is also survived by Max Veale, regarded as a son.

Per her request, there will be no visitation or services. Judy will be interred with her beloved husband Robert at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
