Joyce Marie (Cross) Newman, 85, of St. Joseph, Missouri, peacefully passed away June 29, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.

Joyce was born to Robert and Marguerite (Wolfing) Cross on October 9, 1940. She graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart high school in 1959.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Rodney.

She is survived by her son, Joseph; grandchildren Nikki(Stephanie) and Michael(Dominique); great-grandchildren, Kollins and Grayson. She also leaves behind her beloved grand-dog, Chief and dear friend Renee, whom she loved very much!

Joyce will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and the love she shared with everyone she met. One of her greatest joys in life was becoming a great- grandmother. She would light up every time Kollins was around, she'd say “hey baby girl".

Joyce dedicated over 50 years of her life working for Heartland hospital as a cook. In her time since then, she's been a dedicated fan to the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and QVC. She will be missed very much.

Visitation: Sunday, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman Funeral Home, St. Joseph, Missouri. 

Funeral Service: Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe.
