Janis Kay Roades, 74, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 19th, 2026.

Janis was born on August 30th, 1951 to Marilyn June (Tucker) and Norman "Dusty" Roades in St. Joseph Missouri. Janis was a graduate with the class of 1969 at Central High School. After graduation she continued her education for the trade of hair dressing at the St. Joseph Beauty University; leading to her life long career as a self-employed hair dresser, which she did for over 40 dedicated years!

Anyone who knew Janis knew her for her quick wit, great jokes, and comical humor, which she kept until the very end.

Janis was united in marriage on October 17th, 2020 to Dianne Withrow, the couple has celebrated 38 loving years together.

Janis is survived by her loving wife, Dianne Withrow, sister, Kim Richardson, niece, Kate Richardson, nephew, Tyler Richardson, great-niece, Summer, and great-nephew, Hank.

Preceding Janis in death are her parents; Marilyn and Dusty Roades, nephew, Luke Richardson, and beloved dog, Rocket.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, June 26th, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel at 3609 Frederick Blvd. St. Joseph, Missouri 64506. Private family inurnment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, Missouri.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorial donations are suggested to Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel for the family to make a designation at a later date.
