Friesen
Feb 24, 1949 — Aug 22, 2026
Clarence Ray Friesen, 77, of Union Star, Missouri, passed away on August 22, 2026. He was born February 24, 1949, in Lamar, Colorado, to Virgil and Emma Eloise (Riter) Friesen.
Clarence grew up in Colorado and attended Campion Academy in Loveland. He later earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Throughout his career, Clarence was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to serve others. He worked as Assistant Director of Purchasing at Hinsdale Hospital and later as a supervisor for McKee Bakery. After his family moved to the Union Star area, Clarence became the owner and operator of Value Door, a business he ran for many years before retiring.
Faith was an important part of Clarence’s life. He was a longtime member of Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri, where he also served as an Elder. His faith, commitment to his family, and quiet willingness to help others were important parts of who he was.
On May 31, 1970, Clarence married the love of his life, Karlene Allen, in Sioux City, Iowa. They shared 56 years of marriage.
Clarence enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved watching football, baseball, and basketball, and he especially enjoyed spending time outdoors. He could often be found driving his tractor, baling hay, or tending to his garden. These activities brought him a sense of purpose and satisfaction, and he took pride in working with his hands and caring for the land.
Clarence will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Karlene; his daughter, Alana Tackett; his son, Keith Friesen; his granddaughter, Cecilia Tackett; his grandson, Trever Friesen; his sister, Wanda Balmer (Brent); and his nieces, Lisa Carpenter (Jason) and Kori Mooney (Richard).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Emma Eloise Friesen, and his brothers, Calvin and George.
A memorial service celebrating Clarence’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on September 25, 2026, at Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church, 5302 Mitchell Ave, Saint Joseph, MO 64507.
