Obituary

Catherine "Cathy" Jane Cooper was born on March 31, 1948 to Robert Branam and Betty Chouteau Branam in Salina, Kansas. She passed away on December 9, 2025 peacefully surrounded by her family.

Cathy spent most of her childhood growing up in St. Joseph, MO. She attended Immaculate Conception for grade school and graduated LeBlond High School in 1966. Shortly after graduating high school, Cathy met the love of her life Garry Cooper and they married on May 25, 1968. Cathy worked as a bookkeeper for Meadow Gold Dairy until it's closure. She then worked at office positions at NuWay Faultless, Cintas Laundry services and retiring from Wilbert Vault Company in 2014.

In her spare time, Cathy spent time reading and doing cross word puzzles. However, her favorite activity was spending time with her granddaughter, McKinleigh, playing games and make believe.

Cathy is survived by her son Cameron (Megan) Cooper and granddaughter, McKinleigh Cooper of the home. She is also survived by her siblings Barbara (Bob) Yarbrough, Anna Lee Kent, Jeff Kent and Darrin Kent. Cathy is also survived by her nephews Scott Yarbrough and Ryan (Rebecca) Yarbrough as well as her great niece, Rhys Yarbrough.

Cathy is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Garry Lee Cooper. She is also preceded in death by her father, Robert Branam, mother, Betty Chouteau Kent, stepfather, Loyal Kent and half-sister, Robin Branam.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of nurses and doctors at Advent Health Lenexa City Center and University of Kansas Hospice House Olathe for the care that they provided Cathy in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Special Olympics in honor of Cathy Cooper. Cathy was a great supporter of the Special Olympics for the programs that they offer for people with disabilities. Special Olympics has played a big role in her sister Anna Lee's life. https://support.specialolympics.org/a/donate-in-your-state-2x-match-
