Bruce Douglas
Fane
May 29, 1944 — Jul 17, 2024
Bruce Douglas Fane went home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2024 while surrounded by his family in
his home in Saint Joseph, Missouri.
Bruce was born to Ruth Loud and Francis Douglas Fane of Newton, Massachusetts on May 29, 1944. He grew up in Newton, Massachusetts graduating from Newton High School. He sought a higher education at Michigan State University participating in the Naval ROTC program, before transferring to Newton Junior College earning his associate's degree, and later attending Boston College earning his bachelor's degree in marketing in 1967. Bruce met and married Cheryl Turcotte of Hudson, New Hampshire on September 4, 1982.
Bruce and Cheryl's family was complete when their son Scott D. Fane was born in 1984 .
As a growing family they moved upstate to Greenville and later Jaffrey, New Hampshire. In 1992, Bruce and Cheryl moved their homestead to Austin, Texas for several years, and then to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area until June of 2023 when Bruce and Cheryl retired to Saint Joseph, Missouri. Their son Scott and wife Jacquiline along with the four grandchildren, relocated to Saint Joseph at the same time.
Bruce's life was full of experiences which enriched all who knew him.
Bruce enlisted and served in the Navy for a time, was a door-to-door sales and service associate, manager of multiple business operations; Hobby Store, Turcotte Studios, to name a few, rounding his career out as a State Farm
associates for 15 years.
His love for serving and his thrifty ways were a perfect match for the community outreach with Apartment Life Ministries, and he and Cheryl launched from conception, the Neighbor Net Community Management Services where again, he shared the love of Christ to each and
every community member who lived within the apartment complexes. Hosting weekly gatherings, to handing out goodie bags at the gate…Bruce loved all of it. He loved networking with people, telling stories, sharing Christ and typically had a joke (funny or not) to spin at you at a moment's notice.
Bruce was a dedicated servant of the Lord, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. As a servant of the Lord, you could always find Bruce, a tall man in nature, slipping in and out of rooms where he enjoyed hosting people at events in his home, his church, his community. You could often find him at his church pushing a broom, cleaning the sanctuary, and serving in any way seen and unseen.
Bruce was a devoted husband to wife Cheryl for 44 years, a loving Father to Scott and Jacqueline and
a loving and attentive grandfather to Ian, Max, Jono and Zoey. Bruce was known to his extended family
as "Uncle Bruce" whom he shared endless hours of storytelling and jokes, card games, cooking and
cribbage.
He was a spiritual father to anyone looking for counsel and unconditional love, he served and
gave in this way to many with an incredible impact to the Kingdom of God.
Bruce was proceeded in death by his Mother Ruth Loud, Father Francis Douglas Fane, his sister Nancy
Strader, and brother-in-law Richard Turcotte.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl A. Fane and son Scott
and wife Jacqualine and their four children, Ian Douglas, Maxim, Jonothan and Zoey. His extended family; Sister-in-law Kathie and Bernie Beagle and their children; Nephew Peter and Mary with son Nicolas Beagle, Nephew Clint Lambdin and daughter Emily, and Niece Veronica Beagle.
