Barry
Brady
Jun 15, 1942 — Oct 9, 2026
Barry Brady was a beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, dedicated educator, and friend to many. He lived a life defined by love, generosity, laughter, and a genuine desire to help others, built upon the belief of incorporating courtesy, kindness and respect in everyday daily life.
Barry was the loving husband of Patricia Brady (Spiek), proud father to three children: Helen Wijeweera, Jon Brady, and Heather Mraz. He also cherished his son-in-law, Mihira Wijeweera, daughter-in-law, Dawn Brady, and Matthew Mraz.
Nothing brought Barry greater pride than his family, especially his seven grandchildren: Samantha Wijeweera, Maya Wijeweera, Morgan Brady, Colton Brady, Nicole Mraz, Jackson Mraz, and Lily Mraz. Each held a special place in his heart, and his love for them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
A Career Dedicated to Helping Others
Barry devoted much of his life to education, serving as a dedicated teacher and high school counselor. Throughout his career, he believed in the potential of young people and found fulfillment in helping students discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and find their way forward. He understood that sometimes a word of encouragement, a listening ear, or someone who believed in you could make all the difference.
Barry retired from the Saint Joseph School District in 2010 with over 40 years in education, leaving behind a career devoted to guiding, teaching, coaching and encouraging others. His influence reached far beyond the classroom and counseling offices, touching the lives of students and colleagues who benefited from his wisdom, support, and genuine care. Helping others reach their potential was more than his profession; it was a reflection of the man he was. The lessons he taught extended well beyond academics, reminding those around him of the importance of kindness, perseverance, and believing in one another.
A Life Full of Simple Pleasures and Laughter
When Barry wasn't helping others, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, working in the yard, singing, and making others smile. Whether spending time outdoors, tending to his yard, or sharing a song, he found happiness in the things he loved.
Everyone who knew Barry, knew he had a bit of an ornery side! His playful spirit, sense of humor, and ability to keep those around him on their toes were part of what made him so special. Those who knew him well, will forever smile when remembering his antics, his laughter, and the unmistakable personality that made him uniquely Barry.
Rest peacefully, Barry. You will be loved, remembered, and missed by all who knew the man you were.
