St. Joseph

Obituary

In loving memory of our mother Anna Roberts Merk:
She was born to Peter F. and Mary G. Roberts and was raised in St Joseph, MO. She married David L.
Merk on July 21, 1940. Through this 63 year union, which ended with the passing of David on
November 10, 2003, they raised four daughters: Judith A. Nesselroad (Jim) [deceased], Robin L.
Dunham (Roger), Mary S. Sharp (Donald), and Patricia L. Means (Dick).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter F and Mary G Roberts, and two brothers: Peter F
Roberts Jr and Howard E Roberts.
Babe was a devoted and loving mother who will be fiercely missed by all who knew her throughout her
long and adventurous life. Babe, our mother, was a kind caring, and giving person who always put the
needs of her family before her own. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life
with courage and dignity. She was a source of inspiration to all of us and will be dearly missed by those
whose lives she touched. Dedicated to supporting her husband, family, and faith, she was always there
whether to help with the family or others, always havng a warm shoulder to cry on.
She was a woman of strong faith and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work, and doing
what was right. Our mother Babe was a true helpmate to her husband David, 4 daughters, 10
grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Babe, a devoted family member, a willing and helpful volunteer for her Church, an animal lover, a
fisherman who loved Crane Lake, Minnesota, a sewing artist, and whom we and many others will
always look up to, will miss her very much. She worked hard over the years at H.D. Lee, and made
many friends while helping and supporting St Patrick's School. David and Anna also managed the
Open Door Kitchen for the Co-Cathedral Church on the first Friday of every month for many years.
Anna was also a past President and member of the St. Ann's Altar Society at Co-Cathedral Church.
We would like to extend a loving and special thank you to Mike and Cyndi Spalding, her awesome
neighbors, for their watchful eyes and support of our Mother over the last several years.
